WASTEWATER TESTING FOR SARS-COV-2 GIVES COMMUNITIES EARLY WARNING
The SGS laboratory in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada now offers quantitative wastewater testing for SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA, providing an early warning of a Covid-19 community outbreak before individuals become symptomatic or remain asymptomatic. Wastewater testing could provide up to 7-days early notice of an outbreak.
Results are expected in a 2-3-days from from receipt of sample and will require 100 mL of sample. Expected hold time for the test is 5-7 days; Efforts are underway to increase hold
