OSHA has announced a final silica rule to improve workers’ protection from the dangers of respirable silica dust. You can assure compliance more easily to OSHA’s standard with SGS Galson’s new silica kits. We’ve redesigned the way we send out pumps/media to match the requirements of the new standard allowing you to easily monitor any silica dust hazards. And of course, you’re in the best hands as SGS Galson currently meets all of the new laboratory qualifications for silica and we’re ready to help.
Note, the final rule reduces the permissible exposure limit for crystalline silica to 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air, averaged over an eight-hour shift.
SGS GALSON CAN HELP YOU MEET THE NEW STANDARD
The proper respirable silica sampling equipment is available to you through our popular FreePumpLoan™ program. Make sure you request the sampling pumps, media and cyclones to collect your exposure samples for respirable silica to compare to the new standard. There are three forms of Crystalline Silica – Quartz(the most common), Cristobalite and Tridymite.
The new silica standard is based on these three forms of Crystalline Silica. To meet the standard on a specific job dealing with a certain material there should be representative samples taken and analyzed for all three forms of Crystalline Silica. The kits below can be ordered for this by selecting the kit(s) with 3 Forms.
Once the representative sample is taken and only Quartz is determined to be present in the representative sample, analysis of Quartz only is acceptable. The kits below can be ordered for this by selecting the kit(s) with 1 Form.

Patented, this new industrial hygiene sampling vest allows workers to wear monitoring equipment more comfortably and safely than ever before. An integrated channel system is located throughout the vest to hold the tubing and wires of monitoring equipment in place with all media directly in the breathing zone. These channels help to eliminate any chance of tubing snagging or kinking while ensuring that monitoring equipment is in the same position for every individual, every time – eliminating the chance of error as a result of incorrect placement or differences in placement among the sample population.
WHAT’S IT MADE OUT OF?
We’ve made the vest from a 100% breathable polyester mesh and treated it with a self-extinguishing coating. The vest is ANSI Class 2 compliant and currently available in safety yellow only.
