Smart  Sense (Sensor Specifications)

VOCs (Range: 0-20 ppm)

Sensor Type:  PID (Photo Ionization Detector)
Range: 0-20 ppm
Resolution: 5-15 ppb
Detection Level: 5-15 ppb achievable without interferences and standard ambient environmental conditions
Accuracy: +/- 60 ppb or 10% of reading whichever is greater. System provides compensation for Humidity and Temperature throughout sensor range. Temperature range = -20C to 50C.

Cross Sensitivity Notice: Refer to technical reference on 10.6 ev bulb detectable compounds. Hundreds of Volatile organic Compounds are detectable making the sensor nonspecific on these VOCs
Solution: Selection of correct eV bulb can assist in eliminating some large group of VOCs. Note that the response factors for specific compounds can be included in “calibration” for applications with known VOCs.
Application Note: Photo Ionization Sensors are fairly stable and once installed in an environment without large temperature or humidity swings work well for detection of “variances” from a baseline level. Note that the system does compensation algorithms for humidity and temperature variations.

Solution: Hydrogen offset can be achieved through installation of Hydrogen sensor

Cross Sensitivity Notice: Elevated levels of Chlorine can cause false NO2 readings. Example: 2 ppm of Chlorine would cause a NO2 reading of approximately 2 ppm. Elevated levels of H2S can cause a negative effect on the NO2 readings. Example: 2 PPM of H2S will red -1.6PPM or negate the NO2 readings by that amount.
Solution: H2S offset can be achieved through installation of an Ozone sensor and cross sensitivity negated.
Application Note: Consideration of cross sensitivity is critical for application of the this sensor.

O3 (Range: 0-5 ppm)

Cross Sensitivity Notice: Elevated levels of NO2 can cause false O3 readings. example: 2 ppm of NO2 would cause an )3 reading of approximately of 10 ppm
Solution: Ozone offset can be achieved through installation of an NO2 sensor and cross sensitivity negated.

SO2 (Range: 0-5 ppm)

Cross Sensitivity Notice: Levels of NO2, Chlorine and O3 can cause a negative effect on SO2 readings. Example is 2 PPM of NO2, Chlorine or O3 or combined concentration of these compounds can cause a -2.4 PPM reading or negate SO2 concentrations.
Solution: NO2 and O3 offsets can be achieved by offset through download calculated data from these sensors. Chlorine is not available at this time in Smart Sense but could be achieved through a 3rd device with Chlorine sensor.

H2S (Range: 0-20 ppm)

Solution: NO2 can be achieved by offset through download calculated data from these sensors. Chlorine is not available at this time in Smart Sense but could be achieved through a 3rd device with Chlorine sensor.
