Vinyl Chloride
Sampling & Analysis

Vinyl Chloride comes in the form of a colorless, highly flammable gas with a mild, sweet odor.  It is used as an aerosol propellant and is the starting material for polyvinyl resins.

The substance enters the body through inhalation, ingestion, or skin/eye contact.  It can cause irritation of the eyes and skin; it can also cause weakness, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, enlarged liver, pallor, and the cyanosis of extremities.  In its liquid form, it can cause frostbite.
