Tellurium comes in the form a grayish-white lustrous, brittle, crystalline metal. It is used in pigments for dishes, porcelains, enamels, and glass, and, alloyed with other elements, in cast iron products, vulcanization of rubber, in blasting caps, and in semiconductors.
The substance enters the body through ingesting, inhalation, or skin/eye contact. It causes a burning sensation on the eyes, the skin, and the digestive and respiratory tracts. It can also cause nausea and vomiting, headaches, and dizziness.
