Silica, Crystalline Quartz is a colorless solid comprised of many mineral dusts. It is used in as an abrasive in blasting, foundry work, stonecutting, rock drilling, quarry work, and tunneling.  As Silica, Crystalline Quartz is used, it often breaks into inhalable pieces, which causes lung scarring and difficulty breathing, and it is considered a carcinogen
