Nitrogen Dioxide is a yellowish-brown liquid, or above 70°F, a reddish-brown gas, both with a pungent, acrid odor.

Nitrogen Dioxide enters the body through inhalation, ingestion, skin and/or eye contact.  It causes irritated eyes, nose, throat, cough, mucoid frothy sputum, decreased pulmonary function, chronic bronchitis, dyspnea (difficulty breathing), chest pain, pulmonary edema, cyanosis, tachypnea, tachycardia.
