Lithium Sampling & Analysis
Lithium comes in the form a soft silver-white metal that turns yellow upon exposure to air or moisture. It has been used in medications since 1949, and is currently also used in the manufacture of specialized glass (long-range telescopes), specialized ceramics, storage and dry-cell batteries, as a flux for soldering/welding, and as an alloy.
The substance enters the body through ingestion, inhalation, or skin/eye contact. It is corrosive to the skin, the eyes, the stomach and esophagus, the respiratory tract, and the lungs.
