Freon 12 (Dichlorodifluoromethane) comes in the form of a colorless gas with an ether-like odor. It is used as a refrigerant.
The substance enters the body through inhalation, ingestion, or skin/eye contact. It can cause irritation of the skin and eyes, as well as incoordination, tremor, dermatitis, cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac arrest, and asphyxia. In its liquid form, it can cause frostbite.
