Chlorine Sampling & Analysis
Chlorine comes in the form of a greenish-yellow, diatomic gas. It is a powerful irritant that can cause fatal pulmonary edema. It is used in manufacturing, as a reagent in synthetic chemistry, for water purification, and in the production of chlorinated lime, which is used in fabric bleaching.
Chlorine enters the body through inhalation; contact with unconfined liquid can cause frostbite. Long-term inhalation of low concentrations, or short-term inhalation of high concentrations, produces ill effects. Chlorine does not burn, but supports combustion.
