Bromoform
Sampling & Analysis

Bromoform comes in the form of a colorless-to-yellow liquid with a chloroform-like odor.  It was previously used as a solvent, a sedative, and a flame retardant; now it is mainly used as a laboratory reagent.

The substance enters the body through inhalation, ingestion, skin absorption, or skin/eye contact.  It can cause irritation to the eyes, skin, and respiratory system; it can also cause central nervous system depression, and liver and kidney damage.
