Sampling & Analysis

Aluminum comes in the form of a lightweight, malleable, ductile, odorless silvery-white metal.  It is the most common metal in the earth’s crust.  It is used for beverage cans, pots and pans, airplanes, siding and roofing, and foil.  It is often mixed with small amounts of other metals to form aluminum alloys.  Aluminum compounds are used in water treatment, abrasives, and furnace linings; they are also found in consumer products such as antacids, astringents, buffered aspirin, food additives and antiperspirants.

The substance enters the body through skin/eye contact or inhalation.  It causes irritation of the eyes, skin, and respiratory system.
