Current openings:

Laboratory Analyst, XRD, Full-time

Full-time, non-exempt position available in East Syracuse, NY for a Laboratory Analyst in our X-Ray Diffraction laboratory. XRD preps and analyzes samples, evaluates data and reports results to clients. Anticipated hours: Monday through Friday, 12:00pm to 9:00pm, with overtime as required.
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
Prepares samples; loads, operates, calibrates and maintains instrumentation; performs data review and audits, and writes technical reports from results. Maintains up-to-date supplies and instrument consumables inventory. Follows departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines, company’s guiding principles, data integrity standards and safety programs. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
BS in Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Science or a related science is required. Entry level and experienced candidates will be considered.
 
KSA (knowledge skills & abilities):
  • Must have basic math and computer skills, laboratory knowledge, prior exposure to some laboratory equipment and an understanding of theory of instrument operation.
  • Must demonstrate strong analytical skills, innovation, independence, responsibility and leadership qualities, a positive attitude, strong ethics and enjoy working in a continuous improvement (CIP) team environment and culture. 

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit and stand for up to 4 hours at a time (each). Must be able to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds, routinely carry up to 10 pounds, and push a cart filled with supplies. Must be able to bend and reach with hands and arms in all directions including over the head. Must have strong oral, listening and written communications skills.

Rental Technician

Responsibilities include:

  • Calibrate and configure equipment to client specifications;
  • Repair equipment, perform quality control;
  • Manage equipment pools;
  • Satisfies all daily prep requests including QC of requests;
  • Design, manage and support data dashboard deliverables and associated project workflows for analysing continuous monitoring data;
  • Provides total client responsiveness;
  • Responsible for liaising with clients in order to have a full understanding of project requirements, and documenting requirements accordingly;
  • Carry out project work including development and creation of analytical data outputs and reports to complement and assist with wider objectives on client EHS projects;
  • Responsible for continually looking for ways to improve processes;
  • Answers technical questions posed by clients and other employees.
  • Attends data integrity training and signs off acknowledging understanding and responsibility therein;
  • Ensures cleanliness of work area, instruments and supplies;
  • Responsible for the timely response to all e-mail, voicemail, verbal and written requests;
  • Performs training for all devices and data analysis deliverables to clients and technicians (may involve some travel);
  • Follows all guidelines for acceptable quality control, investigates quality control failures and rectifies problems and brings any discrepancies to their supervisor’s attention;
  • Initiates corrective action requirements as required;
  • Maintains instruments and follows preventive maintenance schedules;
  • Review, schedule and prioritize workload, perform preventive maintenance and monitor instrument capability, ensure that all QC procedures are followed and that they meet necessary criteria;
  • Operates within the guiding principles of the company;
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree in Science or Associates degree and one year of general business experience or High School diploma and three years of general business experience.

  1. Attributes: team player, well organized, conscientious, mechanical aptitude, excellent time management skills, production oriented, computer capable.

Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand and/or walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Requires use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation to effectively handle delicate samples, equipment and/or small tools.  Ability to perform repetitive movements.  Requires ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.  Requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching in all directions.  Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Preparations Technician

Summary

The position is responsible for proper preparation of media for analysis in accordance with all applicable standards and company procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or equivalent, High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred 
  • Aptitude for basic math concepts and report preparation 
  • Position requires incumbent to have a flexible schedule as occasional overtime or weekend work might be required 
  • Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Must have valid driver’s license 
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check prior to employment 
  • Ability to effectively communicate (written and oral) presenting information individually or in small group situations to internal or external customers 
  • Ability to execute detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions 
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
