Sampling & Analysis

Dichloroethane comes in the form of a colorless oily liquid with a chloroform-like odor.  It is used in solvents, in plastics, in the cementing of rubber, as well as a degreaser and a fumigant in insecticides.

The substance enters the body through inhalation, ingestion, or skin/eye contact.  It can cause irritation of the eyes and skin, as well as the respiratory tract.  It can cause salivation, sneezing, coughing, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, faintness, cyanosis, and circulatory failure.
