Dibromo-3-chloropropane
Sampling & Analysis

Dibromo-3-Chloropropane comes in the form of a dense yellow or amber liquid with a pungent odor.  It was used by commercial farming operations as a soil fumigant, but it has been banned since 1979.  Its presence is still found in groundwater today.

The substance enters the body through inhalation, ingestion, skin absorption, or skin/eye contact.  It is considered highly toxic.  It can cause irritation to eyes, skin, nose, and throat, as well as drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, pulmonary edema, liver and kidney damage, and sterility.
