Cobalt comes in the form a silver-gray powder.  When alloyed with other metals, Cobalt is used in manufacturing jet turbines and gas turbine generators, in electroplating, and as a salt, in the coloring of porcelains, glass, and tiles.  

The substance enters the body through inhalation.  It is irritating to the lungs and if there is long-term exposure, can cause asthma.
