Butyl Mercaptan comes in the form of a colorless liquid with a strong garlic /cabbage/ skunk-like odor.   It is used as an industrial solvent.

The substance enters the body through inhalation, ingestion, or skin/eye contact.  It causes irritated eyes and skin; it can also cause sweating, nausea, headache, vomiting, muscle weakness, and confusion.  Long-term exposure can lead to cyanosis, pulmonary irritation, and liver and kidney damage.
