New LOQ’s in updated Sampling + Analysis Guide

The online Sampling + Analysis Guide has been recently updated to reflect some changes in Quantitation Limits (LOQs) related to a few gravimetric analyses and we’ve added a new gravimetric analysis. Lowered LOQs: –        Asphalt fume (benzene soluble fraction) by method NIOSH 5042 changed from 0.10 mg to 0.050 mg. –        Cotton dust by method NIOSH 0500 using Accu-Cap PVC PW changed from 0.25 mg to 0.10 mg. The new addition to the Sampling + Analysis Guide is: –       Inhalable asphalt fume (benzene soluble fraction) by gravimetric analysis method NIOSH 5042 collected with 25PTFE 2.0 PW IOM sampler. Beryllium sampling: We’ve got you covered

As a world leader in industrial hygiene analysis, we at SGS Galson Laboratories understand the need to measure even difficult-to-digest compounds.  And with OSHA’s recently announced  proposed rule to lower the permissible exposure limit (PEL) for beryllium from 2 µg/m3 to 0.2 µg/m3, there is an even greater need. At SGS Galson Laboratories, we already have the capability in place to handle this changeand provide the highest quality data possible to assure worker health and safety. We make it easy to collect samples and provide data to the detection limit required. For our clients, this means you’re covered to reach the proposed lower OSHA PEL.In 2009, a study was commissioned by the Beryllium Health and Safety Committee (BHSC) Sampling and Analysis Subcommittee (SAS) to look at BeO sample digestion issues. In 2010, the AIHA Proficiency Analytical Testing (PAT) program introduced a pilot study to determine the ability of its participants to adequately digest samples containing BeO.SGS Galson Laboratories has participated and been found proficient in the BeO PAT program since its inception.We’re performing beryllium analysis by ICP using method NIOSH 7300/OSHA ID-125G. As always, our Quality Assurance team verifies each step of the method development and verification to validate sensitivity, accuracy and repeatability. Doing Whatever It Takes For Our Clients

I’ve been reflecting on my ­30 years helping Galson clients with their challenges, and 24 years as Client Service Manager. I’m pleased that Galson, now SGS Galson Laboratories’, significant growth has always come with enhancement of our ability to provide the best client service in the industrial hygiene industry. This is exemplified by the time we spend on the phone, LiveChat and email, the positive feedback we get from our clients, and of course the repeat and new business we receive. SGS Galson is always trying to raise the bar by providing new and better services, and improved client service. Our latest improvement is the addition of an extra hour of Client Service Representative support, available at the end of each weekday. We are now available to answer you calls and chats until 9pm EST and 6pm PST on weekdays! To assure that we’re able to cover the additional client service time, we recently hired our tenth Client Service Representative, Lauren Willert, who will be assisting you from our newly-established Client Service Center in Anchorage, AK.  Anchorage is our seventh client servicecenter, which also includes, Irvine, CA, Houston, TX, Stevens Point, WI, Charleston, SC, Mississauga, ON, and our home office in East Syracuse, NY.
